THE LATE PUBLIC MEETING.

-0 The following letter has been received by the Hon. T. Renwict, M.L.A., from his Honor the Superintendent, relative to the resolution passed at the public meeting held on Wednesday evening last, for the object of extending goldfields boundaries, and handed to us for publication : — Superintendent's Office, Nelson, January 28, 1870. Sir, — I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of yesterday enclosing copy of a resolution passed unanimously at a large and influential public meeting, held iu the Provincial Hall, on the 26th instant. The meeting was misinformed as to the nature of the Resolution passed by the Superintendent and Executive Council on the 24th instant, which was as follows : — " That no further steps be taken at present," the intent being to await the result of the public meeting then summoned. The Superintendent has forwarded a copy of the resolution to the General Government for their opinion upon it, and trusts to have their reply to-morrow. I have the honor to be, Alfred Greenfield, Provincial Secretary. The Hon. T. Renwick, M.L.A., Nelson.
