Boarding Department conducted by the Head Master and Mrs. Simmons. nnHE regular course of instruction comprises A the Latin, Greek, and French Languages ; Arithmetic, Mathematics, Geometry, and the Elements of Natural Science ; Geography, History (Ancient and Modern), Writing, the English Language — its Grammar, Literature, and Composition. In connection with this institution there are eight Scholarships, open for competition as they become vacant (due public notice of which is given), viz. : — two of is3o a year each, four of £20 a year each, and two of £10 a year, variously tenable for from one to three years. Youths, to be eligible for admission, must have attained the age of nine years, and be able to read and write with facility. Teems for the above Course : Tuition Fees, £3 per quarter. Board and residence in the College, including Washing, £50 per annum. Day Boarders, £2 Bs. per quarter. The FIRST QUARTER of the current year commences on the 3rd February, 1870. Scene I. — The said business gentleman sitting in an easy round arm chair, similar to the chairs the Government Buildings are furnished with — said gentleman smoking his pipe and concocting his little arrangements for securing to himself and happy family the lion's share of recent discovery. Scene II. — Wonderful phenomenon — a mountain moved five miles at the command of the clever little business gentleman and his experts, or one step in the little arrangements referred to. Scene 111. — Maps made to order, or a sample of what the public get for the cost of the survey department. Another step in perfecting the arrangements referred to. "It is a most extraordinary thing that the Government should have no less than seven maps of the goldfields. and that not two of them should be alike." — A. BUT, The public not entirely satisfied with the kind of " business tact " and " sense of public duty " displayed by the clever little man, go 800 strong to the empire city also, and tell Fox their side of the case, who, in consequence, immediately sets on foot an enquiry into the business, when a little quartz Moss makes its appearance, and creates quite a commotion in the happy family, so much so indeed, that they are quite discomfltted, their little games are sadly exposed, and they one and all feel themselves several inches shorter than they ever did before, the bit of quartz Moss from the reef continually turning up and causing dismay in all directions. The public at large smarting under the want of trade, and the delay in reaping the rich harvest that is awaiting them caused by the proceedings of the little man on behalf of himself , and happy family, call loudly for him to resign, and affect him with an attack of real quartz on the brain in the shape of a shower of specimens hurled at his head, which drives him out.of his seat. 187
