According to the Southern -Crass the Manilla Hemp plant thrives well in Auck- : land. The plant has been growing in considerable quantities unnoticed for years, and was discovered by a Mr. Webster, twho tested it, and found that it produced & very excellent description ofyfibre. It is .supposed to have come from seed sown years ago by some of the numerous Captains of vessels who used to visit the North, This may create a new industry in that province. ;
