Messrs Edwards & Co's p.s. Charles Edward arrived at the Albion wharf at noon to-day from the West Coast. Captain Holmes reports leaving here last Friday at 3 p.m.. and crossed the Westport bar at 1 p.m. on the following day; left early on Sunday morning and reached Hokitika at noon; sailed from thence at 2 p.m. on Monday and arrived at Greymouth at 4, leaving the next day at 5 p.m; crossed the Buller bar at 4 am. on Wednesday, and Bailed for Nelson at 4 p.m., arriving as above. Continued rain caused heavy freshes in the several rivers, rendering their navigation extremely difficult.
