" Subscriber." — You wish to know whether " persons over 50 years of age are exempt from paving the educational rate." Certainly not. Your duties to the State are not supposed to cease with the first half century of your life; may you long live to perform them. Letters for insertion in the Evening- Mail must be written upon one side of the paper only, and sent to the office before 12 o'clock noon, or they will not appear in that evening's paper. No notice can be taken of anonymous communications. Whatever is intended for insertion in this journal must be authenticated by the name and address of the writer, not necessarily for publication, but as a guarantee of good faith.
