Perseverance Gold Mining Company.— We understand that the whole of the shares in this Company, which was only brought before the public on Tuesday last, have been allotted and that there were several disappointed applicants yesterday afternoon who arrived just too late to secure the coveted shares. Meeting of Shareholders. ■— - A meeting of the shareholders in the Culliford Gold Mining Company was held on Thursday evening last, when the followiDg resolution was proposed, — That the votes be apportioned as follows : I to 5 one vote ; 5 to 10 two ; 10 to 15 three ; 15 to 20 four j 20 to 25 five ; 25 to 30 six ; and for every additional 25 two votes. The three prospectors to have 22 votes each. An amendment to this to the following effect was carried by a large majority: — Ito 4 inclusive ... 1 vote 5 9 „ ... 2 votes 10 19 „ ... 3 „ 20 29 ... 4 „ 30 and over ... 5 „ It was also resolved — "That no shareholder shall be eligible jih a director unless he holds at least 10 shares in the Company." ■" That the number of directors be 7, 4 being a quorum.'* The directors will be elected on Thursday evening next, and the first thing that they are to undertake is to obtain a ton of stone from the reef. . Diocesan STNOD.-r-The annual meeting of the Synod will be held next week. The opening service will commence at 10 o'clock, on Tuesday morning, at Christ Church, when a sermon will be preached by the Rev. R. J. Thorpe; We understand that the members of the Synod are invited
to assemble at Bishopdale on the same evening, and that the Bishop will deliver his opening address at the Temperance Hall, at 4 o'clock, on Wednesday afternoon. The meetings of the Synod will on this occasion be held in the evenings for the convenience of the public, who are invited to attend. Addresses on Sundayschool work will be delivered at the Temperance Hall on Monday evening, by his Lordship the Bishop, the Very Bey. Archdeacon Butt, and the Revs. R. Thorpe, C. 0. Mules, and Hussell. Auckland Superintendence —By Auckland papers we learu that Mr. Gillies has been elected Superintendent of Auckland, the returns showing a majority of 39 over Mr. Williamson, the numbers being, Gillies 2402, Williamson 2363. There were a few more returns to come in, but these, it was. expected, would only tend to swell Mr. Gillies' majority..
