Edwards and Co.'s paddle steamer Chakles Edward arrived at the Albion Wharf yesterday morning. Captain, Holmes reports leaving here last Tuesday at 2 p.m., but strong north-westerly winds prevented his leaving the bay until Wednesday. Arrived at Westport at midnight, and left next day r.t three, reaching Hokitika at six the following morning. Left again at daybreak on Saturday, and arrived off the Grey at six, but the very heavy fresh in the river rendered it impossible to enter until the evening's tide. Discharged cargo and took in coal that night, leaving early on Sunday for the Buller; crossed that bar at three p.m., and left again at six for Nelson, arriving as above.
