Alton Street. — A " Subscriber" writes to ask "how it is that Alton-street is so thoroughly free from any attempt on the partof tlie Board of Works to keep it in repair ?" He also complains of the mill lead, as after any heavy fall of rain the water oozes through on the lower side of the race, and forms a stagnant pool. The approaches to the street are said to bein a dangerous state, aud " Subscriber" devoutly wishes that some member of the Board would move into that locality, so that he might become personally interested in the repair of the streets.
