THE NEW ZEALAND RACE.

SEASON.— 1868-69. . -o A correspondent of the Otago Daily Times presents to that journal an elaborate table, showing (be names of the winning horses of £100 and over, the principal winning sires, and owners during the past year, from Ist July, 1868, to 30th June, 1869.- Twenty-five race meetings, we learn, have taken place in the Colony between the periods above-mentioned, and the money ran for, subscribed by the public, amounts to £10,870 (not including trotting races), which was competed for by 256 different horses, 99 of which turned up winners. It will be seen from the following table that Mr li. Redwood, of the Wairau (principally with his two three-year-olds, Peeress and Manuka), takes the lion's share of the. prizes, viz., £2080. The table of winning horses is too long for us to publish here, but we give the following list of the principal winning owners during the season: — No. of < Name. races g* won. ? Mr H. Redwood, junr, Nelson... 17 ... .£2OBO Mr W. C. Webb, Christchurch 15 ... *945 Mr H. H. Stafford, Nelson ... 9 „. 825 Mr W. Walters, Auckland ... 9 ... 540 Mr J. G.
