tueka, she came into collision with the schooner Waiotahi, outward bound. The schooner's jib boom entered the Murray's bulwarks and carried away the rail, steam whistle, and ladder on the bridge, at the same time doing considerable damage to the quarter boat. The Waiotahi lost her jib boom, bowsprit, and night nends, and sustained other injuries more or less serious. We have not been able to ascertain how the collision came about, or which of the vessels is to blame, but no doubt an enquiry will be made into the matter. Accident at the Whauf. — About eleven o'clock on Friday a man named John WilsoD. apparently in a state of intoxication, was ob-erved by Constable Levy to stagger down the wharf towards the schooner Amateur, which vessel he boarded, and then proceeded to step on to the Lady Barkly, and in doing so fell into the water. Levy at once gave the alarm, and threw n rope over to the unfortunate man, who laid hold of it and was thus kept afloat until a boat came to his assistance, when he was hauled out, being much sobered by his ducking. A, inference to our Police report will show that on the next day he was brought before the magistrate and fined £1 a*nd costs. The ducking and the fine together may possibly induce this gentleman to join the Teetotal Society.
