Steamer Waipara. — This steamer, which should have put in an appearance yesterday, has not, we hear, been able to get out of Greyniouth, owing to the bad state of the bar. Members and Mutton Chops. — The Wellington correspondent.^ the Oamaru Times is responsible fos the following, for the correctness of which we" are by no means disposed to vouch/r but would rather . suggest that, like the chops referred to, it should be taken cum grano salts : — On Saturday eveuing last, I was in a butcher's shop here, when one of the members entered and purchased three pounds of chops. On leaving,, he remarked, 'ah, these will do me to-day !' I subsequently learnt that this worthy member (in tho receipt,, remember, of an honorarium of one guinea a day) was one of four who clubbed; together, and paying 255. a week (not 255. each) for the use' of a sittingroom arid bedrooms, catered for themselves." ■/'/'■ ' A*7*A; ; :;.
