The Nelson Evening Mail. SATURDAY, JULY 3, 1869. NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.

Members present : Mr. Burns (cliairman) Messrs. Percy, Webb, and R. Burn. The minutes of previous meetings were j confirmed. The following tenders were opened for gravelling Vanguard Street : — Wm. Osman, £l 9s. per chain. Ditto, £3 per chain. J. Howieson, £l 16s. per chain. A. Devanuy, £1 17s. per chain. Resolved that the tender of W. Osman be accepted. Carried. A tender of Mr. J. Lock was not in time to be opened. Mrs. Loasby obtained permission from the Board to erect a verandah in front of her premises in Upper Bridge Street, on the payment of a peppercorn rent annually to the Board. A letter was received from Dr. Williams calling the attention of (he Board to the suite of the road in front of his premises in Vauguard-street. The Surveyor had received instructions^ clear out the ditches and repair the road previous to Dr. Williams' letter being received. Repairs of footpaths were ordered to be done in reply to Messrs. Stringer and Thompson in their respective streets. Letters from Mr. Bray and R. K. Turner were read; the discussion of them postponed until their cootracts were completed. The Board then adjourned until Friday, 16th day of July next.
