The eccentric actor, Walter Montgomery, who was to hare visited New Zealaud before this, has the following characteristic advertisement in the Sydney Morning Herald. " Mr. Walter Montgomery has lost au umbrella upon which he sets great store. It is a thick ribbed green silk one with a natural handle, and beneath the handle is carved upon the stick, au escutcheon with uo crest, name, or initials, upon it. That part of the stick beneath the silk at the top inside the umbrella, is daubed with ink. It is questionable if there is another Hke it in the colony, therefore its restoration is reasonably expected when the present holder knows to whom it belongs. Any person retaining it after this notice will be considered a curmudgeon or a kleptomaniac, and treated accordingly." " Not guilty," said an Ofaama jury, "but- if the.- prisoner is smart, he will leave the territory before night." He left.
