PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
Tuesday, Mat 11. The Speaker took the Chair at 5 o'clock. Present: All the members but Messrs. Home, Thompson, and Macmahoa. . - petition. Mr. Baigent presented a corrected petition from James Grove. CHARLESTON TOWN LANDS. Mr. Hennelly moved, That in the opinion of this Council it is desirable to have the Town of Charleston re-surveyed as occupied, in sections and portions of sections, and submit the same by public auction ; such sale to be held in Charleston. Motion negatived. PROVINCIAL COUNCIL BILL. The Pkovincial Solicitor moved the third reading of the Provincial Council Bill. On the motion of Mr. Donne, the third reading was adjourned until after his motion for the re-committal of the bill had been considered. FLOATING DOCK BILL. The Provincial Solicitor moved the third reading of the Floating Dock Bill. The Bill was read a third time and passed. PROVINCIAL COUNCIL BILL. TVIr. Donne moved, That the Provincial Council Bill be recommitted, to enable him to move — In Item 10~of Clause 3 of the said Bill, after the words "Charleston District," to strike out the words " one member,'' aadi-sert the words "two members." : Mr.' Reid seconded the motionMr. Gibbs had supported Mr. Donne's motion for adjournment in order to enable him to adduce arguments in favor of increasing the number of, members for his own district. The Speaker ruled that Mr. Gibbs was out of ■order in going into another subject. On a division, the motion was lost — Ayes, 7; Noes, 13. . The Bill was then read a third time and passed. REPLY TO ADDRESS. -Mr. Donne moved, That the Report of the Committee of the Couneil upon the Reply to the Address of his Honor the Superintendent be taken into consideration by the Council. The Speaker wished to inform the Council that the reply had already gone, as he had considered himself not only justified but bound by the rules of the Provincial Council to send it to the Superintendent. It had always been cus-tomary-to consider, a motion passed by a Committee of the whole as adopted by the Council.
