PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
Notices of Motion for Monday, May 10. 1. The Provincial Secretary to move, That the Council resolve itself into Committee on the Estimates. 2. Mr Donne to as'i the Provincial Secretary, Whether it is the intention of his Honor's Government, during the present Session, to submit any scheme for the purpose of providing a permanent Water Supply for the Charleston District. 3. Mr. Donne to ask, Whether it is contemplated by the Government to submit any scheme for subsidizing or encouraging Gold Prospecting Parties. 4. Mr. Reid to ask the Provincial Secretary What action the Government intend taking in reference to the application of Messrs. M'JLeod and Morey for protection for a private Wharf, at Westport. 6. Mr Hennelly to move, That his Honor the Superintendent be requested to furnish this Council with a detailed Report of the Receipt and expenditure of the South-west Gold Fields for the last three years ending -list March last. 7. Mr Burn to move, That a Select Committee be appointed to take into consideration the p-.tition of Robert Carter with power to call for persons and papers ; such Committee to consist of Mr JMacmahon, Mr M'Dowell, Mr Edwards, the Provincial Secretary, the Speaker and the Mover. 8. Mr Sparrow to move, That the Superintendent be requested to procure for the information of the Council copies of all Correspon- ■ dence between the Central Board of Education and the Local Committee of the Long Plain School, Takaka, relative to the removal of the present teacher, together with the correspondence between that teacher and the Central Board.
