To the Editor of the Nelson Eveniß- Mail. Sir —l was as much surprised at your attack in last night's Mail on Dr Irvine as you professed to be at his vote on which you grounded your onslaught. I do not wish to bespatter Dr Irvine with my praises as you have done, but surely, because a man votes with those who think it is not part of the Council to express an opinion on the course which Mr Curtis may pursue, as the repre- . sentative of this city and to argue from this that he is a friend to the piecemeal dismemberment of the province is not 7 Fair Play.
