Thatcher's Entertainment. — There has for a long time been quite a dearth of entertainments of any description in Nelson, and it is with much pleasure that we we notice the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Thatcher, who intend giving two of their amusing performances in the Odd Fellows Hall on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The low prices advertised, and the pleasing recollections that we all must have of Mr. Thatcher's previous visits fo this town, will, we are sure, secure him full houses on the two evenings that he intends to devote to the amusement of the Nelson people. The promised local song we look forward to as a great tveat, and would remind all our public men of Burns' lines — " If there's a hole in a' your coats, I rede ye tent it ; A chiel's amang us takin' notes, And faith he'll prent it.*'* General Government Prize Firing. — The firing for the Colonial Prizes for the Southern Island was to take place at Dunedin yesterday. We very much regret that we are unable in oar present issue to publish the scores made" on tbat occasion. We had made arrangements for their being : telegraphed to lis, but up to the time of our going to press no message had been received j we trust, however, that we shall be able to give the result on Monday.
