LOCAL NEWS.
Appointments. — We understand that Mr J. H. Lowe, formerly District Engineer for tbe West Coast Goldfields, has been appointed Resident Magistrate and Warden in the' room of Mr Dutton, who has lately resigned, and that Mr A. Dudley Dobson will be appointed to the office rendered vacant by the promotion of Mr Lowe. Richmond Fair.— The attendance at Richmond on this occasion was not so numerous as usual, but a considerable amount of business was transacted. Messrs Lockhart & Co. report prices as follows— Working bullocks, £24 to £26; cart naare, £26; cows, £7 to £10 IOs; 18 months old steers, £4 10s to £5 10s; half bred Cotswold rams, 40s to 42s ; Southdown rams, 21s to 30s ; ewes and lambs, 10s 6d each. Drunk and Disorderly. —At the Resident Magistrate's Court, this morning, Peter Franks was charged with being drunk, and abusing his mother, an old lady ' of 70 years of age. Fined^ £1 and costs. George Mathieson, for being drunk and | disorderly, was fined 10s. and costs.
