RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

This Day. (Before J. Sharp, Esq., R.M.) Daniel Allen was charged by PoliceSergeant Nash with being drunk and disorderly on the Haven-road last night. Fined £1 and costs. Richard Townsend was charged with allowing six head of cattle to stray on the Waimea-road. Defendant did not appear. Fined 5s a head and costs. An information had been laid by David Ritchie charging Hugh Cottier, publican, with unlawfully assaulting and beating him. Complainant did not appear. Mr Pitt, on part of defendant, applied for costs. Application refused.
