LATEST FROM THE EAST COAST.
Wellington, Jan. 7, 2.17 p.m. The Sturt arrived at 1 p.m. to-day, and brings the following intelligenc : — Te Kooti bas been defeated. 120 Haubaus have been killed by the Arawas and Ngatigorous, 100 prisoners were taken, including Te Waru. Te Kooti in retreat. Col. Whitmore in full pursuit. The Sturt is not yet at the wharf.
