Wellington, December 3, 1.34 p.m. Information has been received from Napiej, stating that a skirmish hacl taken place on Wednesday, between an escort and a foraging party of Hauhaus. One of the rebels was killed, and 50 horses, 1000 rounds of ammunition and 7 cases of biscuits,:previoußly]seizedfrom us, had been retaken. The Wairoa -contingent arrived at Poverty Bay ou Monday, and proceeded to the Front the following morning. The Napier Cavalry had also arrived in high spirits, and are to be employed on daily escort duty. The Ladybird, from Wangatmi, with Colonel WKitmore and reinforcements for Poverty Bay, passed Wellington Heads at 11 this morning.
