Holloway'a Ointment and Pills. — Happiness round the Hearth. — With sore trials, temptations, and accidents daily endangering health and life in large cities, as well as in country districts, it is most important to have at hand some medicine which may be fearlessly used in every disorder to which humanity is heir. Hollo way 's medicaments supply this great want: they are inexpensive, purchasable everywhere, can be readily used, are safe even in inexperienced hands, and perfectly safe as healers and purifiers. Holloway's Ointment and Pills cure inflammations, abscesses, and liberations, with a facility hitherto unknown. Holloway's noble remedies will effectually remove all skin diseases, however long standing or obstinate the case may be. 1797 Ihe Dunedin Evening Star of the 13tU inst., gives the following particulars of the death that morning of a man named Koberfc O'Berry under very extraordinary circumstances: — He was on board the lighter Alexandria, of which he was owner and master, at present lying alongside the Rattray-street wharf, and was attending to the cooking of some meat on a stove. In order to ascertain if the meat was properly done, he cut off a piece and put it into his month. Instead of masticating it, he endeavored to swallow it, but the passage of the meat was obstructed, and it remained in a dangerous position in the throat Some persons who were standing by endeavored by artificial means to force the meat down the throat, but without success. Doctor Alexander waa instantly in attendance, but being without a pair of forceps, he was unable to extract the meat. The man died a few minutes afterwards. Doctor Alexander subsequently succeeded in removing the piece of meat, which was of very considerable size, and weighed 3 ounces. Negotiations are said to be in progress between the different insurance companies in Auckland, to set on foot a thoroughly efficient fire brigade. The volunteer ays» tem, it appears, has not been found to work well, and it is in consequence proposed to pay the men to be engaged in the new brigade.
