At the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, W. M'Kay, on remand, charged with assaulting George Jones, on the 3rd instant, on board the Charles Edward, was further remanded until Wednesday next. — W. O'Brien was charged with stealing a gold locket and chain, the property of George Frederick Anson, in whose house in Bridge-street he was lodging. The articles had been left iu a workbox in the sitting room, to which several other individuals had access. The prisoner, who had tendered a chain in exchange for eatables to a Mrs Skinner in Collingwood-street, but who had no property on him when arrested, was remanded until to-morrow. Several debt cases were heard, the publication of which we must defer until our next issue. Intelligence has been received to-day by telegram of the safe arrival of the ship Cissy at Gravesend on the Uth of May. A meeting of the Suburban North Road Board took place on Monday, the 6th inst. for the purpose of electing two new members of the Board, in the place of Messrs Close' and Slater, who retired by effluxion of time. Four candidates were proposed to fill these vacancies: — Messrs T. C. Batchelor, S. Close, Blanchett, and Frost, The show of hands was ia favor of Messrs T. C. Batchelor, for whom 31 votes were given, and of Mr Blanchett, who obtained 21 votes, whilst Messrs Close and Frost obtained 6 and 4 respectively. No poll was demanded, and Messrs Batchelor and Blanchett were declared duly elected, a vote of thanks being given to Mr Piersbn, the chairman. The Otago arrived from Melbourne at the Bluff with the English Mail via Suez at 1.15 p.m. to-day. Our present space permits us only to

state that Messrs G. Holland aud S. E. Gapper were elected on Monday last, out of six candidates, to fill the two vacancies in the Waimea Road Board.
