NELSON BOARD OF WORKS.
The Board held their usual fortnightly meeting at the office on Friday evening, Present: Mr Bentley, M.l. C, in the chair, Messrs D. Burns, Webb, J. Hooper, and Field. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Public Works Committee recommended that Wellington-street be repaired so as to render it passable. On the motion of Mr Hooper, it was decided that the gravelling of Nile-street East and of
Milton-street be referred to the Pablic Works Committee, and that they he empowered to instruct tho Secretary to see it carried out as re- \ quired. Mr Field having lodged a complaint against Mr Potter's omnibus, the Inspector vas ordered to see into the matter. Mr Walton's application fov loave to make a siding across the footp.ith hi Hardy-street, under tlie supervision of tlie Secretary, vas grained. Air _>utts' application for the cleaning oat of a drain on hi.** premises was referred to the Inspector of Nuisances, to be reported on at the next meeting of the Board, aud the Secretary was also instructed to see that thft ditch in Waimea-street opposite tlie Colonist OiHee, and also that behind Mr I. Jl. iiiii's promises, be cleaned out*. It was resolved thai, the Public Works Committee be empowered to instruct the Secretary to employ extra labor, when required to meet cases of emergency. A letter from Mr Gorrie, relative to a nuisance, was referred to tlie Inspector. A letter was read from Mr Browning relative to some ditches in Toi-toi Valley, and the Secrotary was authorised to see that the work is carried out. Several accounts were passed, and the Board adjourned until Friday tlie ord of July.
