S. Beal, Commander, is appointed to leave WELLINGTON, for PANAMA, On WEDNESDAY, July 8, 1868, at 3 p.m. with Her Majesty's Mails. Through bills of lading are issued at moderate rates, and shippers may rely on regular delivery, in good order, in schedule time. This Company's steamers LEAVE SYDNEY on the Ist, and WELLINGTON on the Bth of each month; are due at Panama on the sth or 6th of the following month, and will form regular connection there as follows: — For SOUTHAMPTON. Leave Colon on 6th or 7th direct for, and arriving at Southampton on the 29th of each month. For SAN FRANCISCO. Leave Panama on 2nd, 9th, 17th, and 24th; arriving at San Francisco on 7th, 15th, 22nd and 30th of each month. For NEW YORK. Leave Colon on 6th, 14th, 20th, and 28th; arriving at New York on 6th, 14th, 22nd, and 28th of each month. Passengers booked from all this Company's Agencies, at through rates, to San Francisco, and to Jamaica, St. Thomas, Havana, Trinidad, Vera Cruz, and Demerara. Intending passengers are informed that the Royal Mail Company have determined upon running their steamers direct from Aspinwall to Southampton, and vice versa, thereby entirely avoiding the West India Islands, and the transhipment which calling at them involved. All excess to be paid for as measurement goods, without primage. Saloon tickets, available for 1 2 months, issued at one fare and a half. Intending passengers are informed that the homeward skamers call at Water Island for coal only, thereby avoiding transhipment. TJURSUANT to the provisions of the EducaX tion Act, 1863, the Superintendent directs it to be notified, that the ANNUAL RATE imposed by the said Act upon all Householders residing within Educational Districts, will be LEVIED on WEDNESDAY, the Ist day of July; and that the same will be received at the following places, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., namely: — Court-house, Nelson, by the Inspector of Police School-house, Clifton-terrace, Suburban North, by Mr Alexander Wragg School-house, Stoke, by Mr E. Cresswell Agricultural Hall, Waimea East, by Mr W. Steer School-house, Waimea West, by Mr George Walker School-house, Spring Grove, by Mr Charles Knapp School-house, Wakefield, by Mr R. Burbush School-house, Upper Moutere, by Mr William Best School-house, Lower Moutere, by Mr William Guy Institute, Motueka, by Mr Thomas Boyes School-house, Pangatotara, by Mr Brown School-house, Riwaka, by Mr C. Pattie School-house, Motupipi, by Mr J. Baird House of Mr G. Taylor, Takaka, by Mr G. Taylor Police Station, Collingwood, by Mr John Fisher Court-house, Cobden, by the Sergeant of Police Court-house, Westport, by the Inspector of Police School-house, Motupiko, by Mr George Flower. The aforesaid Act requires that ' every householder in each educational district shall pay, annually, twenty shillings, and a further sum of five shillings for every child of such householder between the ages of five and fourteen years : Provided always, that no person shall be liable to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from any school established under this Act ; nor for any child attending any school not established under this Act, in respect of whom such persons shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by the teacher of such school, showing that such child has attended during the three months previous to the levying of the rate.'
