The Nelson Evening Mail. MONDAY, JUNE 15, 1868. TELEGRAPHIC INTELLIGENCE.

THREE MORE MURDERS BY THE HAU-HAUS. Wellington, June 14. 5 p.m. An extra of the Wanganui Times, published yesterday, says that two men named Clerk and Squires have been shot down aud brutally tomahawked by the Maoris. Later information received states that another man, named Thomas Smith, a trooper, went to catch his horse, and whilst mounting, a volley was fired from the bush, and he was shot dead. The Maoris immediately rushed in, tomahawked him, and severed the lower extremities of his body from the upper part, which they carried away. The lower part was afterwards recovered by his comrades.
