*— ~— ' ' ' ' ' — ■* PROCLAMATION. By his Honor OSWALD CURTIS, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c, &c, &c. WHEREAS, by the Protection of Animals Act, 1867, it is provided that no GAME shall be Hunted, Shot. Taken, or Killed, in any part of the Colony until the same shall have been proclaimed as open for that purpose: Hovr, therefore, I, Oswald Curtis, Superintendent of the Province nf Nelson, in exercise of the power aud authority in me vested in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Districts of RIWAKA, MOTUEKA, PANGATOTARA, UPPER aud LOWER MOUTERE, as constituted under the authority of the Education Act, shall be open for the purpose of SHOOTING PHEASANTS during the month of JULY next, by persons duly licensed, under the above-re-cited Act. Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Nelson, this Eleventh day of June, in the year of our Lord Oue thousand Eight hundred and Sixty-eight. LICENSES to SHOOT PHEASANTS withiu the districts of RIWAKA, MOTUEKA, PANGATOTARA, UPPER and LO W ER MO UTERE, during the month of July next, will be ISSUED at this office on Payment of the FEE of ONE POUND, The following Clause of the Protection of Aoimals Act, 1867, is published for general information: — '18. No person shall take, kill, or pursue, or aid, or assist in any manner in the taking, killing, or pursuing by any means whatsoever, or use any dog, gun,net, or other engine for the purpose of taking, killing, or pursuing any game until such person shall have taken out a License to kill game under this Act, and Jpaid the duty hereby made payable thereon, and if any person shall offend against the provisions of this Section, he shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty pounds, and in default of payment to be imprisonei for a period not exceeding four months.' ALL APPLICATIONS for PUBLICAN'S BUSH LICENSES, and tor RENEWAL or TRANSFER of such Licenses, must be lodged at this office, on or before WEDNESDAY, 17th June instant. TENDERS will be received at this office, until WEDNESDAY, the 17th inst., from persons desirous of CONTRACTING to SUPPLY good, hard, dry, FIREWOOD, at per cord, to the several Government Offices, Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, Gaol, Lock-up, and Destitute Poor, for the 6 months ending 31st December, 1868. TENDERS will be received at this office, until FRID AY, the 19th inst. for the laying down ot STONE WATER CHANNELS, and the BUILDING of a STONE WALL, &c, at the New Hospital, Nelson.
