| EDUCATION RATE. Superintendent's Office, Nelson, June 1, 1868. PURSUANT to the provisions of the Education Act, 18fi3, the Superintendent directs it to be notified, that the ANNUAL RATE imposed by the said Act upon all Householders residing within Educational Districts will ha LEVIED on WEDNESDAY, the Ist day of July; and that the same will be received at the following places, between the honrs of Io a m and 4 p.m., namely: — Court-house, Nelson, by the Inspector of Police School-house, Clifton-terrace, Suburban North, by Mr Alexander Wragg ' School-bouse, Stoke, by Mr E. The aforesaid Act requires that - every householder in each educational district shall pay, annually, twenty shillings, and a further sum of five shillings for every child of such householder between the ages of five and fourteen years : Provided always, that no person shall be liable' to pay for more than four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from any school established under this Act ; nor for any child attending any school not established under this Act, in respect of whom such persons shall produce to the Collector a certificate signed by the teacher of such school, showing that such child has attended during the three months previous to the levying of the rate.' SEALED TENDERS will be received at this Ofiice, until WEDNESDAY, 17th June instant, from persons desirous of CONTRACTING to SUPPLY the undermentioned ARTICLES, for the six months ending the 31st December next, to the LUNATIC ASYLUM, GAOL LOCK-UP, and DESTITUTE POOR, namely \ I.— MUTTON and BEEF, fresh and free from bone ... — ... at per lb. Suet Mutton to be supplied by the Quarter when required, hind and fore quarter alternately. 2.— BREAD, best at per lb. Ditto, of Wheaten Meal ... M Flour, fine ... ... ft Ditto, ditto atpercwfc. .
