FENIAN DEMONSTRATION AT HOKITIKA. Hokitika, March 9, 1 1 a.m. The Fenian demonstration and procession took place yesterday. About 800 persons took part iv the procession. The Hokitika procession met that from, the Waimea at the Arahura ; they joiued and marched into town* accompanied by bands of music. They paraded the principal streets, the procession being orderly and respectable. They then proceeded to the Cemetery, where the gates were lifted off their hinges by two of the marshals, permission having been refused by the trustees. The procession was headed by Father Larkins, in fuU canonicals, who chanted the burial service in Latiu, and on entering the cemetery, a memorial cross was erected to the three Fenians executed at Manchester. All then quietly dispersed. About 1200 persons wbo took no part in the procession were spectators. During the night the streets were thronged, but no disturbance took place. The hotels were closed during the whole day by order of the authorities. Everything is quiet to-day.
