ine nomination ot candidates to nu tne four vacancies at the Board of Governors of Nelson College took place, to-day at noon, at the Courthouse, the Resident Magistrate, John Poynter, Esquire, presiding, who called upon the electors to nominate the candidates who bad offered themselves for election. Mr A. S. Collins then proposed and Mr D. M. Luekie seconded Mr N. Edwards as a fit and proper person to fill the post of Governor of the College. Mr J. Webb proposed and- Mr Gardiner seconded the nomination of Mr Donald Sinclair. Dr Cusack's nomination was proposed by Mr Kingdon and seconded by Mr W. Burnett. , The Provincial Secretary proposed and Mr W. M. Stantou secouded Mr Brunncr's nomination. The Rev. C. L. Maclean was proposed by Mr Thornton and seconded by Mr J. T. Lowe. The Provincial Treasurer, Mr Sharp, was proposed by Mr A. Hibble and secouded by Mr James Hooper. Mr Webb having suggested the propriety of an examination on the part of the different candidates of their views, the six gentlemen who had just beeu nominated, respectvely addressed the electors, stating the motives which had induced them to come forward, and giving expression to their views as to the government of the college, the ependiture, and also the kind of education which would prove most beneficial to the institution. The Resideut Magistrate then called for a show of hands for each candidate, when there appeared for Mr Sharp 26, for Dr Cusack 23, for Mr Edwards 22, for Mr D. Sinclair 20, for Mr Brunner 12, aud for the Rev. C. L. Maclean 8. The show of hands was therefore declared to have fallen on the four first mentioned gentlemen, and Mr Maclean immediately demanded a poll, whieh will take place on 3rd of January.
