The Nelson Evening Mail. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1867.

NELSON CRICKET CLUB. The meeting called for tho purpose of receiving the report of the provisional committee appoip ted on Thursday evening last, and for the transaction of other business, took place yesterday evening at the Trafalgar Hotel. The. meeting was well attended, all the leading cricketers iu towu being present. Alfred Greenfield, Esq., M.P.C. was called to the chair, and after a few prefatory observations, the minutes of the preliminary meeting having been read and confirmed, the lists of names of subscribing members which had been obtained during the week through the zealous efforts made by sever..! of the provisional committee were hauded iu, and read by the chairman, from which it appeared that no less than 71 individuals bad promised subscriptions at half-a-guinea per annum, and it was furthermore stated that this number would in all probability be largely supplemented, the canvass having been very incomplete. A sub-committee, consisting of the Chairman, and Messrs Mortimer, Stavert, Lee, and Clark, was then appointed to draw up rules for the government of the club, to be submitted to a general meeting of the members, to take place uext week; and also to take steps for the preparation of the ground in Victory-square, so as to commeuce 'the present season at as early a date as possiole. It was then moved and carried that, with a view to the settlement of the debt on the late Albion Club, Mr Mortimer should be appointed arbitrator on the part of the Nelson Club, and Mr Clark on that of the Albion Club, to make a valuation of the property belonging to the last mentioned club, which, it was understood, would be purchased by the new club. The general meeting was fixed to take place at the Trafalgar Hotel, on that day se'n night. Wednesday, the 23rd instant, and Mr Clark, who was requested to act as Secretary ad interim, was instructed to insert advertisements in the local journals to that effect. A vote of thanks to the chairman having been proposed and carried by acclamation, the meeting separated.
