THE STREETS.
To the Editor op the Nelson Evening Maii,. Sir — Some time ago the attention of the Board of Works was called, in your journal, to the state of some of the streets in Nelson, and to Wellington-street in particular. You, sir, promised, on authority it is presumed, that it should be remedied. Now let any member of the Board essay to walk on that street, especially after nightfall, or let the Secretary-Sur-veyor attempt the journey on his horse, and I think the evil would be modified. Seeing the expensive, if not useless, works being proceeded with in various parts of the city, the inhabitants of thia street (who, though poor, no doubt pay their rates) would naturally like to get to their homes without jeopardising life or limb by huge boulders or bottomless ruts. Yours, etc., Q. V. Nelson, 5 Oct. 1867.
