PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.

Tu_sday, July 9. The Speaker took the chair at 11 o'clock. All the members were present, except the Provincial Solicitor, Messrs Redwood, Gibbs, Thompson, Drey er, Donne, F. Eelling, Parker, liicMahou, and Wastney. Mr Simmouds presented a petition from Mr W. Hastilow, having reference to the Cattle Trespass Act, and then moved the suspension of Standing Order No. 28, in order to move that this petition be referred to the select committee now sitting ou the Cattle Trespass Act, which was agreed to. Mr Pitt then called the attention of the Speaker to the fact that there was not a quorum present. The Speaker therefore ordered the names of the members present to be taken down, when the following proved to be present : — The Provincial Secretary, Messrs Pitt, Gibbs, Simmonds, Burn, and Akersten, and the Council was then declared to be adjourned until this evenin» at 5 o'clock.
