The • Panama Company's steamer Airedale left Wellington yesterday morning, at half-past 6 and arrived at Picton at 12-15; left again at 2-30 p.m., and arrived here at midnight. Captain Kennedy . reports fine weather and variable winds. The Kaikoura left Wellington tor Panama at 8-30 p.m. on the Bth, taking a large number of passengers and 15,000 ozs gold. The barque Indus, with a cargo of cattle, from Newcastle to the Kaikoras, put into this harbor yesterday, having left Newcastle on the 3rd of May. She then experienced very boisterous weather, and on the lath put back for repairs and to take in a fresh supply of hay and water. The Indus has been for the last 17 days within" 150 miles of Nelson, but could not enter, on account of the south-easterly gales which prevailed. She left Newcastle with a cargo of 200 cattle, in prime condition, from three to four years old, for Mr. Bullen's station at the Kaikoras, (whither she proceeds after taking in a fresh supply of hay and water) but of these 50 have been lost on the passage.
