/A very gratifying address was presented By the members of the Nelson Artizans' /Mutual Improvement Association on j! Tuesday evening, at a special meeting [- held at the Infant School, to Mr. William Haddow, the late President of the Society on the occasion of his departure for the West Coast. The address, very tastefully endorsed on parchment, was presented, in appropriate terms, by Mr. W. Falconer, the President, and Mr. Haddow made a very feeling reply. \ The following is a \ copy ef the address : — To Mr. William Haddow. Respected Sir — We, the President the members of committee, and, other associates of the Nelson Artizans Mutual Improvement Association, having learned that you are immediately about to remove from the city, have hurriedly assembled ourselves together fco express a portion of that sorrow which the circumstance of your removal must implant in the bosom of every member of our vis3„ociation. Being the ostensible founder of our society, we scarcely need inform you, thafc during its entire existence we have looked to you with that respect to which your position among us, your urbanity to all, as well as your general information upon most subjects, with your willingness and ability to give them expression, justly give you a right. Wherever you may
go, you carry this respect with you, and it is the prayer of the undersigned, thafc you may live long to know that yon are esteemed by the artisans of Nelson. We have only briefly to add this further prayer, that health, happiness, and competence, with tbe love of all, but more especially the warm esteem of those with whom you are nearly and dearly connected, may ever attend your footsteps, and be a means of consolation to you through life." Signed by the office-bearers, committee, and members.
