BOARD OF WORKS.
Fkiday, March, 29, 1867. Present: Messrs. Burn, Burns, Bentley, Carter, and "Wright. Mr. E. Burn in the chair. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. A report from a sub-committee was submitted to the Board, relative to the finish of work in Pranklyn and Vanguardstreet, by W. Osman. The secretary was authorised to see that the work be properly finished according to specification. The secretary was requested to send two men as soon as possible, to clear water courses in Vanguard-street. It was resolved that a neat wood fence and seat be put round the Ash Tree near Mr. Lightband's, Nile-street East, The secretary read the following report relative to the amount of tenth year's assessment ; also, the amount collected and what remains to be collected ; and also, the amount of contracts now on hand. Gross amount £629,345 0 0 Kate, at Id. in the pound £2622 5 6 Collected ... 1136 13 9 To be Collected 1485 11 9 Amount due on present Contracts £384 19 0 It was resolved that the secretary prepare plan and specification for forming and gravelling Grove-street from Collingwoodbridge to Milton-street, and that the tenders as well as the tenders for bridge between Hampden and St. Vincent-streets, be advertised, and contracts opened next Board night. An application from several ratepayers in Russell-street was received, with sub-
criptions amounting to £119 towards form the above street. A discussion arose relative to the formation, when it was resolved that the working committee consisting of Messrs. Bentley, Carter, D. Burn 3, Wright, and the Chairman, as well as the secretary meet on the ground and report next meeting night The Secretary stated to the Board, that "the contractor for the Bridge-street Sewer was making all the necessary arraugementSjfor commencing the work, which would be in about a month. A letter was received from Mr. Rogersou, complaining of the state of Millstreet; the working.committee were authorised to see the street and if necessary, to get the work done at once, the Secretary to superintend it. A letter was received from Sir David Monro, complaining of overcharge on the rates. The Secretary was ordered to see to the matter. The following accounts were ordered to be paid : — Labor, £38; Cockram and Dunlop, £40; Burkett, £l 10s. The Board then adjourned urtil Friday, the 12th instant.
