A curious phenomenon was recently remarked near Mount Greenock Victoria. A person approaching the eastern side of the mount saw what he thought to be a dozen distinct whirlwinds, several yards apart, and of great height. On drawing closer .he found that each column was •composed of millions of winged ants, ; whose spiral movements had produced the effect which led to their being mistaken for whirlwinds.
