The Wellington is advertised to sail on the 16th instant, with the Nelson Cricketers. The match will take place ou the 18th, at "Wellington, and a vessel will leave for Nelson the following day. The opportunity to spend two or three days at "Wellington should not be lost, especially as the fare there and back, is only £2. As the cricketers have guaranteed a certain number of passengers, it is to be hoped the public will take care that they are not losers by the speculation. The annual general meeting of the members of the Nelson Institute, will be held this evening, at half-past seven. The Tararua will sail for Melbourne, on Monday next. A great number of miners from the country and the other provinces, have arrived in Nelson, during the last few days, en route for the new rush, at the Ilaast River. On the 2nd inst., at Dunedin Mr. Macandrew who is a candidate for the office of Superintendent, addressed enormous audiences in the Princess' Theatre, and during his speech was several times interrupted by bursts of the most enthusiastic cheering. He emphatically deuied the charges preferred against him by the Times and Star, and stigmatized the action of his opponents, which had caused his " dismissal and disgrace," a diabolical conspiracy emanating from self-serving interest. During the speech groans for the Times and Star were called for, and freely given. The nominations for the Superiatendency took placo on the sth in the presence of upwards of 700 spectators. Dick, Macandrew, and J. G. S. Grant addressed the crowd, and a show of hands resulted greatly in favor of Macandrew.
