There are a little over 2000 colored persons in Boston. There are four negro lawyers in practice in the courts of that city, and five colored preachers with -crngregations. There are two independent negro military companies. The law interfering with the marriage between whites and blacks has long been abolished. Their right of equal entrance with whites to the public schools, street railways, and coaches now fully admitted. The churches, theatres and hotels (with certain exceptions), hold out still against accomraodat?'cg negros on equal terms witk others.
