HOW TO MAKE CLAIMS TO BE ENROLLED AS VOTERS.

To the Editor of the Evening Mail. Sir —-As the present month, and also the months of February and March, are the months within which claims to vote for the Electoral Districts for the election of Members for the House of Representatives must be made, and as numerous mistakes are made by claimants, I append a copy of the form required (which is filled in with a supposed claim), and which, perhaps you will be good enough to insert in your paper. I also annex a few remarks by way of explanation to persons using the forms. Form. To the Registration Officer of the Electoral District of [Waimea].

I [James Smith] do hereby give you notice that I claim to have my name inserted in the List of Voters for the Electoral District of [Waimea], and I declare that my name, place of residence, and the nature and description of qualification, are stated truly in the columns above. [James Smith.] Signed and declared by the j Claimant this [tenth] day I of [January] in the year f 18G7. J Before me, [William Bnowy,] An Elector of the District of Waimea. The above form filled in will guide any person as to the mode of filling up the particulars. It may be declared before an Elector, a Justice of the Peace, or Registration Officer. The Electoral Districts are as follows : City of Nelson, Suburbs of Nelson, Waimea, Motueka, Collingwood, Westland, and Cheviot. It is impossible without a plan to indicate in which district a claimant's right to vote is situate, but in the settled districts they may be taken to be as hereunder: — The Suburbs of Nelson include Suburban North and Suburban South, to the southern road line of Mr. Saxton's property. The Waimea extends from the said line, including Waimea East, Waimea South, Wai-iti, Upper Motueka Valley, aud certain country chiefly north of the Buller. Motueka includes Waimea West, Moutere, Motueka, and Riwaka. Collingwood includes Takalca, and Collingwood. Westland includes the Grey and Buller, and other country in Canterbury Province. Cheviot includes Amuri and other country in Marlborough and Canterbury Province. The'Provincial Electoral Rolls are formed from the rolls framed for the above districts, after they are revised; aud claimants must not insert a Provincial Electoral District, instead of the ones above mentioned. Claims, when completed, should be sent in to the Registration Officer of the particular district for which the person makes his claim Toui'S &c, John Shakp. Nelson, January 8, 1867.
