Two men have taken -a parcel of 12 ozs. of i-ougli scaly gold from the Pakihi to Greymouth, and reported well of the diggings. The Tarauaki papers state that. -the indica-' tions'of oil at the Alpha petroleum well ara.l exceedingly encouraging, on one day. several . buckets of oil having been drawn up in sucsession. The well on the Islaud.of Mikpt;thi, is 150, feet deep. The^new winding apparatus, of the company came to hand by the Egmont.
