RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. Tins Day.

[Before J. I'oynter, Esq., R.M.] H. Bailey v. J. Crawford. —Action to recover £10, being £5 for repairs of a trap broken by defendant, and £5 for loss of time during repairs. Mr. 11. Pitt appeared for defendant. It was proved that defendant broke the trap accidentally, and also that it cost £5 to repair it. The Magistrate gave judgment fbr £5 for repairs and costs, and said, under the circumstances, he should not allow for loss of time. Constable Bnidcock informed against C. Jennens, for allowing three head of cattle to stray in Halifaxstreet, on the Ist instant. Offence admitted, and defendant was fined £i 10s. and costs. John Speed informed against W. H. Barlow for allowing a horse to stray in Van Diemen-street, on 31st July. Defendant was fined 10s. and costs. Mrs. Lipscombe appeared against her husband for an assault, &c., and to require him to find sureties to keep the peace towards her- Defendant not answering to his name when called, and proof of service of summons being given, a'warrant wias issued to arrest him. The case is to be gone into on Monday.
