The Mail closes for Taranaki and Manukau, by the Queen, to-morrow at noon. The condemned criminals, Crookwell, Lee, Weaver, Owens, Slattery, and Berryman, for the murder of Constable Raymond at Bargo Brush ; and Green, for the murder of Andrew Shearer, at Rushcutter's Bay, are assiduously attended upou by the Rev. John Dwyer, and other Roman Catholic clergymen. The Executive have not yet decided as^to the day of execution. ; Beef is likely to be at a discount. Some time ago it was announced that "prime beef could be obtained at ascertain place at the small charge of twopence per pound; now however, it appears that it is offered in various parts of the town at one halfpenny lese. If any profit can be attached to the' reduction and the article is good, surely the public heretofore must have been overcharged. Whatever the reduction, the low prices iriusfc astonish those who have recently arrived from England, and who yet .expect what , may. be termed, almost exorbitant wages .—QueensCourier. .
