We have received from Mr. Murphy, mate of the Gazelle, the following particulars of the abandonment of the schooner Gazelle, on the Albert River, Gulf of Carpentaria. In running up the river, and when within fifteen miles of Burketown, the ship ran on a sand bank, and could not be got off. Captain Miles, finding that she was making water fast and was not seaworthy, abandoned her on the 7th of February. He and the crew came on to Port Denison in the Policeman, which brought down all the gear of the Gazelle. The owners of the Gazelle are Brown and Sullivan, of Sydney. She was insured in Smythe's office, Sydney. All the gear and hull will be sold in Port Denison. — Nortkern Argus.
