COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.
GREYMOUTH, May 4, There have been very few additions to our stocks since our last report, and, consequently, on almost all things there has been a slight upward tendency. We quote as follows:— Flour, Adelaide, £26 to £27; Chilian, £22 to £23; Canterbury, £21. Horse feed of all kinds in good demand, and prices having an upward tendency. In teas, although stocks are light and in request, we cannot quote any advance; the same applies to sugars. Bacon and hams, scarce; prices of the former rule from 2s 2d to 2s 3d; and the latter, from 2s 3d to 2s 4d for good brands. Brandies, stocks of fine bulk getting low; inferior brands not saleable. Ports and sherries, stocks low; good qualities in good demand. Colonial and light wines, none. Geneva in fair demand. Bottled porter, stocks light, and the best brands sought after at a slight advance. Bottled ale, market full. Oilmen's stores of all description in very good demand, the market being very bare. Candles, good brands, is 3d to Is 4d. Butter, firm, 2s 3d to 2s 4d; cheese,
Port Cooper, Is 4£dtolss|d; building materialsmarket full. Should there be no more arrivals, we feel assured that even higher prices than we have reported must be realised by holders. — G. R. Argus.
