Friday April 13, was observed as a day of humiliation and prayer for rain. Divine service in all the churches ; business entirely suspended. MELBOURNE. Friday, 6. p.m. The Conference he t ween the Council and the Assembly sat from 12 o'clock till halfpast 4 p.m., and thea adjourned till a quarterpast 5. It is now sitting. Mr. M'Colloch expressed a hope that moderation would characterise the proceedings ; as the Assembly had yielded ou the preamble, he trusted the Council would give way on the gold export duty. 8 p.m. The Conference is over, and the result, is that a new bill is to be brought up on Tuesday, and passed through all its stages in both Houses,
