The Nelson Evening Mail. MONDAY, APRIL 2, 1866.
/The Evening Mail has now entered into the second month of its existence. We gladly avail ourselves of this opportunity to express our thanks to the public of Nelson City and Province, for the liberal measure of support it has already received; although now only iu its 24th issue, not less than 16,000 copies of the Evening Mail have already been circulated! We believe that there are few houses in the city that have not taken iu our paper. We hear upon all sides that our appearance is regularly looked for every evening, and great disappointment is occasionally felt if the Evening Mail is not delivered with due regularity to our subscribers. As the well known extensive circulation of the Evening Mail now ensures that it will be daily seen by nearly every resident in „ Nelson, and by large numbers of the country settlers, and as its small size causes every 2>ortion to be generally read, the value of its columns for advertising purposes is beginning to be appreciated by the mercantile community, we have therefoie reason to believe that we will shortly have occasion to increase its size, so as to make room for an increasing number of business announcements ; as we do not intend to allow those announcements to trench upon the proper amount of space devoted to supply the wants of the reading public. We regret that our first arrangements for the delivery of the Evening Mail to our town subscribers, did not ensure due regularity in this respect. This is, doubtless, a matter of considerable difficulty, as we do not go to press until the last moment, so as to be able to give the latest intelligence, so there is but little time to distribute our paper over so extensive a district. We trust, however, that the arrangements we have since made for this purpose will ensure perfect regularity in future. As the large measure of support we have received conclusively proves the truth of our assertion, "that a daily journal was an evident requirement in Nelson," we will spare neither pains nor expense to render the Evening Mail a first-class paper, and one well worthy of the support that has been hitherto so generously accorded to it.
