Wine and Spirits.— A slightly improved demand, especially of the lighter . kinds. Good ports and sherries fairly supplied; but' riot overstocked. Inferior" sorts '.of wines still abundant. Maxtell's dark brandy advanced to 8s 6d. Ale and Stout. — There is a good demand, and . prices are somewhat firmer. Bass's bottled ale is worthfronvl2s3dtoJ2s 6d; Ind^.Cbope,,. and Cos. 12s 3d to. l'2s 6'd. ' Other brands of bottled ale and stout vary from 10s 6d per dozen , ; duty paid; Us being and an ordinary price for fair brands. Tobacco. — There are-large stocks of' the common kinds on hand. Uegrohead is worth Is 6d to 3s ;" Cavendish; .good .to fine, Is 3d to ls-6d. - There is a good supply of cigars, .Manilla, No." 2, T&2 lbs to £2 " 15s ; ditto, Havannah-shaped, £2 15s to j£3. Oilmen's Scores. — Stocks .of oilmen's, stores; are light, and good prices- are obtained. A... good many articles of this class cannot be -had.. Teas. — Stocks of fine teas are tight ; those of good strong black leaf, strong arid good Kaisows, are good.
