The want of a Journal ofithis description has long been felt here, this town bang so centrally situated, in such close proximity to tjie rich Gold-fields of the West Coast, the port of departure of so many lines of steamers, and where the {commercial connections Sot its merchants extending to every part of New Zealand, render a daily papr an almost imperative necessity ; the proprietors jherefore trust that their exertions to supply an evident requirement will be duly appreciated by the public, and that such an . amount of support will be '^accorded, as will enable them to bring their undertaking to a prosperous issue. The Evening Mail will nj»t pretend to be in any respect a Political Paper; yet as occasion may offer, when it will be necessary tojexpress an opinion upon such matters, the proprietors desire to state that it will be a thoroughly independent Journal, attached to no party, devoted to noj faction, seeking only to {advance the interests of this Province, and the prosiperity of the entire Colony. | . * It is almost needless to pqint 'out to business men 'the great advantages offered Vby this Journal, as a medium for advertising, as lit will enable them to place their announcements daily before the public. !.
