The Conciliation Commissioner (JJr. Triggs) held a sitting at Invercarpll on Deceniber 5 in the painters' dispute. The employers' assessors informed the Commissioner at the outset that they had been instructed to oppose, the men's demands in toto, as they were regarded afi impossibilities. There was a rathci , heated discussion, the- Commissioner stating that it was the class of employers sitting at the table who caused trouble in New Zealand, as they would not listen to a fair deal.
